South Bay Youth Performing Arts relies on volunteers to support programs, events, and behind-the-scenes operations. Below is a list of volunteer roles you can help with. Each position includes a brief description, responsibilities, and any requirements.
Provide overall leadership and direction for the organization or specific ensembles. Guide meetings, make key decisions, and support all divisions.
Requires experience, strong leadership, and reliability.
Maintain records, meeting notes, and communications for leadership teams. Assist with scheduling and documentation.
Attention to detail and organizational skills essential.
Manage volunteer applications, onboarding, and communications. Ensure roles are filled and volunteers are supported.
Professionalism and strong communication skills required.
Teach drumline and percussion techniques to students during rehearsals and performances.
Prior experience required.
Instruct students in trumpet, trombone, tuba, and other brass instruments.
Experience playing and teaching required.
Teach flute, clarinet, saxophone, and other woodwinds.
Experience playing and teaching required.
Create or adapt music for ensembles. Can be a volunteer or outsourced as needed.
Music theory knowledge required; flexible role.
Provide instruction for specific instruments like mellophone, euphonium, or baritone.
Assigned based on need and student interest.
Manage SBYPA’s online presence, post updates, create graphics, flyers, and other promotional content.
Team-based approach preferred to distribute workload; creativity helpful.
Assist with outreach, email campaigns, and event publicity.
Good organization and communication skills helpful.
Help coordinate events, registrations, and communications for the California State Mariachi Circuit program.
Flexible hours; attention to detail important.
Assist with rehearsals, performances, and public events. Can include setup, check-in, and logistics.
Flexible role; open to all volunteers.
